BeBook are set to launch a new version of their e-reader. The latest model will include wireless connectivity, a new touch screen and ePub DRM standard.

Google are offering free e-books from today. Over 1.5million out-of-copyright titles are up for grabs which means a massive digital library for... nothing! The books can be downloaded to phones with large screens such as the iPhone or G1. These new mobile editions are optimized to be read on a small screen," Google said. "With this launch, we believe that we've taken an important step toward more universal access to books."
Books can be searched by category or using the search function. Authors include Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle, Jonathan Swift, Lewis Carroll, Jane Austen, Lucy Maud Montgomery and Oscar Wilde. Could this mean a renewed interest in literature. We hope so!

Plastic Logic are creating a range of products that enable 'information access, organization and consumption.' The form factor of this e-reader is certainly what captured my attention. At 8.5x11" and thinner than a pad of paper, it's incredibly slim and light and they claim it is better than e-readers currently on the market with E-ink technology for easier reading plus low power consumption and long battery life.
Business users should note all that along with its support for document formats including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe PDFs plus it can be used for reading newspapers, periodicals and books whilst storing thousands of docs. It can be used wired or wirelessly and Plastic Logic expect to pilot the products in the latter half of 2009 with sales from 2010.

The leather case just released for the BeBook electronic reader might just give the feeling of an actual hardback book.
As for the BeBook itself, well it can contain a massive 1000 books with authors including Patricia Cornwell, Stephen King, Jane Austen and so many more. 150 books are already installed so you're ready to go. It also incorporates MobiPocket which allows users to download eBooks, news and magazines from online stores which can all be read on the six inch screen. If you're tired of all that reading, it'll play MP3s and audio books too.
